NetStorage

Netstorage is used for access to DS-Filestore personal filespaces from outside the Managed Cluster Service.  Unlike CIFS and AFP, it can be used from outside the University Data Network.

NetStorage Web interface

Use the NetStorage web interface at https://web.ds.cam.ac.uk/netstorage. This enables you to list your DS-Filestore files, transfer them between DS-Filestore and your local machine, delete, rename, or move them. You can display but not edit the contents of some types of file (depending on the capabilities and configuration of your web browser). It is available outside the cam domain, unlike the CIFS service.

When you go to the web interface it will request your user identifier and Desktop Services password, and then display a window containing two icons: DriveU@userid contains your DS-Filestore files, and DriveX@UX contains group and society filespaces. Double-click either icon to see the list of files. If you have a lot of files, you will find that there is the usual vertical scroll bar and also a special horizontal scroll bar within the window. The window has its own menu bar, separate from that for the browser you are using. Double-clicking on a file will either display its contents (if it is of a type your browser can display) or download it; you can always download by right-clicking on the file (in Windows) or by selecting Download from the File menu within the window.

To upload files to DS-Filestore, select Upload from the file menu and you will be invited to select a file for uploading. You can only upload one file at a time.
