Desktop Services
Locating your personal filespace
When accessing your DS-Filestore filespace, you can use a number of methods.
- If you login to a Managed Cluster Service machine, your DS-Filestore filespace is immediately visible, and includes your public_html directory where your web pages are stored.
- sftp access is by connecting to sftp.pwf.cam.ac.uk, using your standard Desktop Services username and password.
- ssh access to the Remote Linux service - ssh to linux.pwf.cam.ac.uk, and use standard Unix commands to manage your files.
- CIFS access (only from within the CUDN) mounts your DS-Filestore filespace on your desktop. The CIFS web pages give instructions, depending on the operating system of your computer.
- Use the NetStorage web interface at https://web.ds.cam.ac.uk/netstorage). This enables you to list your DS files, transfer them between DS-Filestore and your local machine, delete, rename, or move them. You can display but not edit the contents of some types of file (depending on the capabilities and configuration of your web browser). To properly use NetStorage, you need to have javascript and pop-ups enabled for the site in your browser. It is available outside the cam domain.
When you go to the web interface it will request your user identifier and Desktop Services password, and then display a window containing two icons: DriveU@userid contains your DS files
