This list was last updated on 19 October 2011.
Over the summer of 2011 various items of Macintosh software were added, upgraded, or withdrawn; a list of the changes is available here. Access to MCS Macintosh applications is most convenient using the Apple Menu item provided; this is organised along the same lines as the MCS Programs entry on the Windows Start menu. The order of listing below fundamentally matches the order under the 'Applications & PWF Information' item in the Apple menu.
MCS Macs run under Mac OS X 10.6.5
All applications are available at all Computing Service sites and at those institutions who are members of the Managed Cluster Service. Some of the applications may be subject to licensing arrangements such as limited availability due to licence numbers. However where possible all applications are available across all cluster sites unless otherwise indicated by [n].
Additionally, at the time of writing, a few new applications or upgraded versions may not yet be available; this is indicated below by the abbreviation NYA in the Comments column and applies, in a few cases where technical difficulties remain or master licensing arrangements are not complete.

Note on Language Support
The default language character-sets supported under MacOS X 10.6.5 are installed. These are available on all the Macs via the International System Preferences setting or at the login Window . Note that not all of the programs available are able to function with all of the character-sets and that the existence of a character-set does not imply the availability of tools such as spell-checkers for that language.
