FAQ: How do I change my password for the VPDN service?

You will need to make an ssh connection.

Windows

  1. If you do not already have an SSH client you will need to get one first, for example PuTTy
  2. Make an SSH connection to vpdn-admin.csx.cam.ac.uk.
  3. When prompted for a user name enter vpdn and no password.
  4. You will then be prompted for your VPDN username and password.
  5. At the next prompt (a=announcements, k=preshared key, p=password, c=cisco client, n=normal (L2TP) client) enter p.
  6. You will then be prompted for a new password, which you will have to confirm a second time.

Mac OS X and Unix/Linux

  1. In Terminal type ssh vpdn@vpdn-admin.csx.cam.ac.uk
  2. You will then be prompted for your VPDN username and password.
  3. At the next prompt (a=announcements, k=preshared key, p=password, c=cisco client, n=normal (L2TP) client) enter p.
  4. You will then be prompted for a new password, which you will have to confirm a second time.
