FAQ: How can I mark all email messages in a folder in Hermes Webmail?

By default the "Mark All" facility is not enabled in Webmail. Once enabled it is very useful for deleting (particularly Spam mail), copying and moving all messages in a folder in one go.

To enable and use mark all:

  1. Use a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) to go to https://webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk/ and login to Hermes.
  2. Click on the Manage icon at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Preferences button under User Preferences.
  4. Ensure Use persistent marks (slower, sometimes useful) is ticked
  5. Click on the Change for this and future sessions button.
  6. Navigate to the required folder by using the Folders icon.
  7. Click on Mark All on the top right of the page.
  8. Choose the operation you would like to perform e.g. Delete Marked and click on the GO button.

To unmark all click on to the Mark All button again.

To disable mark all:

  1. Use a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) to go to https://webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk/ and login to Hermes.
  2. Click on the Manage icon at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Preferences button under User Preferences.
  4. Ensure Use persistent marks (slower, sometimes useful) is not ticked
  5. Click on the Change for this and future sessions button.
