Google Apps
Introduction to Google Apps @ Cambridge
The Computing Service provides a University Google Apps for Education service. At present this is just Google Calendar. We plan to open access to further parts of the Google Apps suite in due course.
Using an online calendar you can keep track of your appointments and also easily include in your calendar other University dates. You can also share your calendar with others, for example colleagues in your Institution.
You can use your Google Apps @ Cambridge calendar from any computer with an internet connection and a web browser. You can also use (synchronise) it with a calendar on your own computer or mobile device. When you use a web browser you will authenticate using Raven. For other accesses, for example synchronising your Google calendar with a calendar on your local computer, you will use a self-managed token (this acts as a password).
Below is a calendar combining term dates and the meetings of central bodies (see this page for the details of each of these).
Help and Support
Local help is available from the pages listed on the left of this page and there is a Google Apps @ Cambridge forum on the Forum Service.
Google provides documentation for individual products. Google's documentation is available from within the Google @ Apps Cambridge service by using the 'Help' link and a 'quick link' can be found at the top of this page.
If your questions are not answered by these then you can email the UCS Service Desk (service-desk@ucs.cam.ac.uk). If the problem is with the components provided by the Computing Service (principally the authentication service) then it will be investigated locally; failures with Google-provided components may be reported to Google support if this is appropriate.
