Personal web pages on the MWS

If you have an account on the MWS you may install personal web pages in your personal filespace if you wish. In common with personal web sites on other Computing Service systems, personal web sites on the MWS are only intended for individual use and may not be used to provide a web presence for any other person or organisation.

If you wish to create your own personal web pages, you will first need to create a directory, public_html. Your home page will be index.html in that directory. As previously noted, scripting of personal web pages is not available.

See IS44: Personal Web pages on the University Network for other ways to publish personal web pages.

No matter how many web servers you have access to on the MWS, you will have only one personal filespace (home directory) which is visible from all your websites. Beware of putting website specific information in your personal home filespace if you are, or may be, a maintainer of more than one site.
