Network connections and charges for institutions
Data network charges describes the different types of physical connection to the Cambridge University Data Network (CUDN) and gives details of installation and recurrent charges, both for network connections and the Managed Cluster Service.
Lapwing is the name of the Computing Service facility for wireless hotspot connections to the CUDN. The charges for this are separate from charges for physical connections to the CUDN.
Although there are no traffic-related charges for use of the CUDN itself, network traffic between the CUDN and JANET (including EastNet) incurs usage charges; these charges are passed on to Colleges, the Schools of the University and, otherwise, individual institutions.
CUDN access may be provided to outside organisations for the purpose of bona fide collaborative work with University institutions, as detailed in the page on Access to the CUDN and JANET for outside organisations.
