Charges for the Managed Printing Service (DS-Print)

Charges for the Managed Printing Service (DS-Print)

The Managed Print service enables users in participating institutions to access networked printers from their own machines, with full logging and accounting support for the institution. The service is available whether or not the institution has a Managed Cluster of desktop machines.

For institutions which have a Managed Cluster, the charges for support of printing and print accounting are rolled into the overall Managed Cluster charge, except for multi-function devices (MFDs), for which a separate charge is made.

For other participating institutions, charges are as follows (all as at April 2011; VAT to be added where appropriate):

  • Printers:
    • £75 UCS commissioning charge per printer, reduced to £50 each for further printers joining the scheme at the same time
    • £75 UCS annual scheme subscription per printer, reduced to £50 for subsequent printers
    • £0.005 UCS per-sheet charge (whether B&W or colour, A3 or A4)
  • Multi-function devices (i.e. printer/photocopiers):
    • £295 ITS (Information Technology Supply Ltd) per device charge for embedded application and licence
    • £59 ITS per device annual charge for maintenance of licence and application support
    • £195 ITS MIFARE card reader preconfigured for University card
    • £100 UCS commissioning charge per device, reduced to £75 each for further devices joining the scheme at the same time
    • £100 UCS annual scheme subscription per device, reduced to £75 for subsequent devices
    • £0.005 UCS per-sheet charge (whether B&W or colour, A3 or A4)

ITS will invoice institutions separately for ITS services, as above.

Enquiries about the scheme should be addressed to ds-print@ucs.cam.ac.uk
