Windows Time Server

When running a Windows Domain it is essential that your clients and servers are synchronised time-wise.

Configuring the Time Server to an Enternal Source

To syncronise your Windows server with an external time source enter the following at a command prompt;

  • w32tm /config /syncfromflags:manual /manualpeerlist:PeerList

where PeerList is a comma-separated list of DNS names or IP addresses of the time source(s)

Followed by;

  • w32tm /config /update

Synchronising Clients

Within your Domain the clients can be forced to synchronising with your DCs with the following command;

  • w32tm /resync
